Kapas Island (or Pulau Kapas in Malay) is an island in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. It is located about 6 kilometers east of Marang. It has a smaller island, Pulau Gemia, located north of it.
Kapas means Cotton in Malay. It refers to the island's white sandy beaches.
Kapas Island measures roughly 1.5 by 2.5 km. Its name, Pulau Kapas (direct translation in Malay means Cotton Island) refers to the island's white beaches. The island has tropical jungle, clear seawater, white sandy beaches and coral reefs in the surrounding waters.
